Death of 24-year-old woman in Cedar Rapids called suspicious

CEDAR RAPIDS – Police found a 24-year-old woman dead Thursday inside a southwest Cedar Rapids home, but there were no signs to indicate what happened.

The death of Mackenzie L. Ervin, 24, at 158 Mayden Ave. SW is considered suspicious, police said. She lived at the address, but it wasn’t immediately known whether she lived there alone.

“Nobody witnessed the death,” said Sgt. Cristy Hamblin, a police spokeswoman.

Hamblin said investigators did not find anything to indicate how Ervin died. An autopsy has been scheduled, and investigators are hoping it reveals more clues.

Maybe she ate too many eggs.

A Heartless Woman

Mindy Greany WATERLOO,IA --- A Grundy Center woman has been sentenced to prison for stealing from people with disabilities. As a credit counseling company employee, Mindy Sue Greany, 31, oversaw the funds of the blind and mentally challenged --- people who needed help keeping track of their money. Instead, she siphoned more than $100,000 from their accounts at Family Management Credit Counselors in Waterloo.
